Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after March of that year.
Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.
His retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.
However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an improved serving game.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to force a third set.
He rescued four early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
